Today is Juneteenth! For those of you who don't know, Juneteenth is a celebration of the end of slavery in the United States. It stared in Galveston, Texas in 1865; June 19th is marked as African American Emancipation Day! Sadly, not enough people know about the significance of this date. Time has done an overview of the history and cultural impact of Juneteenth and the continued struggle to have it recognized as a federal holiday; get educated!

Shoot Films, Not People Productions is having an amazing event in conjunction with the Slave Theater in Brooklyn. The 2nd Annual 'Link Up and Get Free' Juneteenth Celebration is a FREE event that will feature some of Brooklyn's finest performing artist, local fashion designers, vendors and food that reflect the spirit of the holiday.
