British designer Ana Sekularac knows the meaning of these words all too well. This supermodel turned designer is not one of those run-of-the mill delebrities (designer celebrities), as WWD likes to call them, but rather a talented artist with a keen eye. Her designs often feature very interesting, modern silhouettes which are complimented by bold color and geometric shapes.
However, Sekularac's recent use of accessories (belts, specifically) in her Autumn/Winter 2008 collection has really caught my attention. I am truly impressed by the artful way she allows her belts to take center stage. As illustrated in the looks below, her belts are attention grabbing; they are not merely interesting accents- but are arguably as critical as the garment itself. Their central role gives her designs a fresh, innovative look which compliments the general aesthetic she creates. The end result is beautiful and interesting, in short, very fashion forward. I hope to see more designs like these from her in the future.
