Do you love or hate this photo of Anne Hathaway on California Style magazine?
I don't think it's as terrible as people are making it seem...

remember jumanji?
Why?
Extremely unclear.
Photo courtesy of fresnobeehiveIt's been a long time since she has graced the best dressed lists. Or even looked like she was trying to be presentable. I have a hard time understanding why anyone would want to wear her clothes or why any label would want to do business with her. Apparently Tina Lutz and Marcia Patmos, of Lutz and Patmos, like to gamble; Dunst will be a guest designer for their Fall '09 collection.

blingin it, techie style
special thanks to reader MILES for clueing us into this new and interesting trend: USB Bling.
more specifically, designers are taking some time out to trick out these handy devices and the result? the flashiest of flash drives.

although i think the concept is hilariously ingenious, i'm not sure i'm ready/willing/able to dole out the ca$h necessary to get my paws on one of these suckers. In this economy, I wonder who we'll actually see in the office or at school with one... I guess my boring and plain USB will just have to do.

one heck of a town
- Tyra Banks
- Kelly Ripa
- John Legend
- Christian Siriano
- The Fug Girls
- Cassie
- Deborah Marquardt
- Patrick Robinson
- Jean-Georges Vongerichten
- DJ Ruckus
- Becki Newton
- Sean Avery
- Gayle King
- June Ambrose
- Paula Froelich
- Stacey Bendet
- Elisabeth Hasselbeck
- Jessica Szohr
- Aubrey O'Day
- Jane Lauder
- Tiki Barber
- Tommy Hilfiger
- Mika Brzezinski
- Nina Garcia
- Frederic Fekkai

Some of these are highly questionable. Aubrey O'Day????? She's just about the biggest fashion victim of our times. Let's not forget the monstrosity of her own clothing line. Sigh. I know some terribly stylish New Yorkers who would probably be offended to see some of these people make the list. I was, however, excited to see stylist, June Ambrose, make the cut! To check out the reasoning behind the list- visit US Magazine.

poor shirley maclaine

Did anyone watch the Coco Chanel movie on Lifetime last night?
I was totally disappointed.
The film was like 3 hours long and barely even explained how Chanel became an empire.
Ps. Good luck to Promiti who will be starting her job at Chanel tomorrow!

nylon loves target, vice versa
Once again, Nylon hooks us up with the latest preview of Target's Go Collection, this time featuring designer Jonathan Saunders. I refuse to get excited because I've done this song and dance with them before. You get excited when you hear who the designer is but then Nylon throws some waify, washed out girls into the clothes and has them pose as though their limbs are too heavy for their bodies to support. Your excitement falters. But even though the photos are really drab and make you want to go on a campaign to "Feed The Models", you hope that maybe, just maybe, the clothes will look fabulous in person. But they don't. It always ends in disappointment. Discounted and yet still overpriced disappointment. Yes. I. Am. Bitter.
In other news, I'd love to know who makes those boots!

for the 18 and over crowd

If these are not the craziest condoms that you've ever seen in your life, I'll be very surprised. This comes from the crew over at Bust but I just had to share this find because it combines everything that we're about - art, creativity and all things cutting edge. And the creepy, I get lots of chuckles from the creepy. Wacky Rubbers come in a variety of styles:
- Glowing Condoms: Hand painted condoms. For those dark nights.
- Musical Condoms: Press the tip and hear a song. Then press some more.
- Flashing Condoms: The tip lights when pressed. Zodiac Condoms
- Zodiac Condoms: A special condom each month. Now you see it, now you don't.
I personally think Wacky Rubbers should team up with Oh Mi Bod, the makers of the I-pod Vibrator. There are millions to be made.

pick us instead, Marc!
Some time around the turn of the century, when Katy Perry was still singing Christian rock, the music biz already had a duo of "faux-lesbians" topping the charts. The names Lena Katina and Yulia Volkova probably mean very little to you but I'm sure the image of these two young Russians kissing on TRL as part of their t.A.T.u shtick is burned into your head for an eternity. Lord knows the clip was played on repeat enough. Years later the duo has the world chattering once again - this time because they are set to be the new faces of Marc by Marc Jacobs (in Russia). New York Magazine offers up a comical analysis of this breaking news. Preview: the t.A.T.u girls commit a faux pas by referring to world famous designer as Marc Jacob on their website.

heidi montag is the worst
Hmm, so I've been contemplating whether or not to even post this video and ya'll know I have no reservations about posting videos even if they are only mildly amusing. But Heidi Montag has me in a serious contemplative state. Her new video for "Overdosin" is just so unfunny and not clever that I'm starting to think that maybe she was for serious, ya know? It's hard to tell these days. Oh, and I gaurantee you won't make it all the way through the video. Which is cool, you only need to see the first 20secs anyway.
American Apparel employees everywhere are rolling their eyes in contempt.

extremely poor taste
It's officially time for "celebrities" to stop designing clothing. The results are rarely any good and I find that to be rather sad. If I had millions of dollars and endless resources available to me, I'd like to think that I could pump out a decent product.
The latest celebrity to offend me is Aubrey O'Day and her line, Heart On My Sleeve. Not only are her designs uninspired, they're down right tacky. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, considering O'Day gained her "fame" as a part of Diddy's girl group, Danity Kane, and is notorious for her hot mess fashion faux pas. I know I've been wrong in the past- Lindsay's sold out leggings being the latest example- but I really hope that these clothes go unsold. And yet, I can already think of a few people who would love O'Day's raunch-a-wear.
Someone please explain why any of the items above are being sold on the same page as baby clothes. Really weird, kind of extra creepy, baby clothes.

hot or not: Christian Siriano
Christian V. Siriano's collection for Bluefly debuted today!* The latest Project Runway winner is selling six different looks with pieces ranging in price from $96 to the much more steep cost of $590. I can't say that any of the pieces shocked me because they all look reminiscent of designs we've seen from him before- which isn't necessarily a bad thing. There's been lots of discussions around the web about his designs; haters are gonna hate and lovers are gonna love. I think I'm really digging the gold looks.

* Yes, apparently he's added the V. to his name.

buyer beware
It seems like anyone who is enjoying 15 minutes of fame can design handbags or come out with a fragrance. Paris Hilton, for example, has done both. So when you find out that a "celebrity" has released a line of fragrances that may cause cancer, you probably suspect the culprit is a sneaky D-lister, right? My money would have been on that evil Lauren Conrad.
They look so honest!

According to the Environmental Working Group, some of the beauty products that the Olsens peddle contain known carcinogens. I'm curious to see how they explain this Walmart, although I'd be willing to believe the mega-corporation knew all along. Lawsuits and massive refunds are sure to follow as this story gains press.
Shameful.
EDIT: NY Magizine is reporting that beauty giant, L'Oréal is being sued for knowingly selling products containing carcinogens in Europe and South America. The dirt came from a former employee who claims he was fired after voicing concern about the company's illegal practices. Very disturbing. If you buy their products, you should definitely take a couple of minutes to read the article.

good-bye woodstock
This might upset some fashionistas but I think this trend looks ridiculous on 99% of the people who attempt it. You can't be taken seriously with a rubber band around your forehead. You just can't. These three ladies are proof of that.Photo courtesy of People.

be kanye
I think we've known for a while now that Kanye West lives in a world of his own. One where his blog posts make sense -grammatical and logical. A world where blind sunglasses are not only fashion forward but also practical. But, I've never really understood whether or not Kanye has a sense of humor about himself. His defensive rants on the interweb suggest that he does not and his music certainly proves that he has more than a healthy dose of self-importance. So when I saw this "commercial" that Kanye has done for Absolut, the main sponsor for his spring/summer tour, I had a couple of questions.
