although i think the concept is hilariously ingenious, i'm not sure i'm ready/willing/able to dole out the ca$h necessary to get my paws on one of these suckers. In this economy, I wonder who we'll actually see in the office or at school with one... I guess my boring and plain USB will just have to do.

into the future

if i had a bunch of little munchkins running around (and an extra deep pocket) i would probably be dressing them in these spiffy outfits.

i can't decide if the clothes or the children modeling them are cuter- but the overall adorable factor is a little bit too much to handle..

on to a more realistic note, what's good with j.crew?

aside from their fantastically fun crewcuts line, it seems this traditionally preppy brand has had a serious make-over recently, transforming it from a run-of-the-mill khakis and polos paradise into a place that is actually vying for my limited dollar$$. i've been shocked by how many cute things i've seen in the constant flow of catalogues that arrive in the mail at my house (how can they afford to send so many, btw?). the company's new philosophy is one of "necessary luxury," bringing stylish, "european" inspired looks to a broader american audience. the result is definitely one you can drool over; the rich, dreamy textures (generally italian cashmeres, tweeds and fine knits) and the bold, vibrant colors (with names such as electric mustard and persimmon) bring a fresher, edgier look to the previously humdrum line. These upgrades come at a price, however. With their new step towards bolder, trendier clothing (which, as a result, moves them out of the Gap league of chain retail stores), J.Crew has embarked on a new era of pricing- one that is not always easy on the eyes. For those of you concerned/smart shoppers out there, I recommend saving up to buy key pieces from the new line- they have great coats and blazers which are definitely worth the extra cash- you'll be getting high quality clothes that are sure to last. Another area where you can easily condone a little extra spending is for their new accessories line, which boasts great jewelry and shoes. The pieces are fun, youthful and unique and will easily dress up any outfit without being too stuffy.

have y'all seen the craziness that fendi unveiled not too long ago?

yes, you guessed right. thats a 24karat gold persian lamb fur coat you're looking at. apparently the technology behind it has been in the works in fendi's furrier atelier for about 20 years or some crazy amount of time like that. too bad they released it in one of the worst global economies of our time. i wonder who we'll spot doling out the precious cash necessary to get their fashion-addict paws on this little darling... oh, the irony.

It's a well known fact that I love Diane Von Furstenberg and if I could only wear one designer for the rest of my life, it would be her. Her Spring '09 showing was stunning. The combination of silky fabrics with more textured accents, like beading, kept things looking eclectic but what really stood out to me was the juxtaposition of metallics against paler shades. Von Furstenberg has taken the still popular boho-luxe look and upgraded it to the next level of chic while still keeping it fresh and playful for Spring. Oh how I yearn for just one these beautiful little things!

I am TOTALLY in love with this heavenly indigo coat slash dress creation by Giles, a staple look in his Fall 2008 ready-to-wear collection. The volume is absolutely swoon-worthy and the inky, blue color is one you can easily lose yourself in. I don't know where I'd be wearing this to (or better yet, how I'd be getting my hands on one...) but I just had to share.

Something is missing in my life and I think I know what it is-- a weekly dose of overly stylish rich kids and their soap opera drama. If it weren't for the constant stream of "leaked" photographs from the set of Gossip Girl, I think I would actually have to grow up and find a real hobby.

haute stuff

If you haven't noticed by now, I'm a sucker for all things handmade, ESPECIALLY when they are made so delicately and beautifully. What makes couture so amazing, to me, is the freedom it allots the creator- your only limitations are those of your two hands and your imagination. Anything is possible- with the right attitude and right team behind you, and the results never seem to disappoint, even if the overall aesthetic is a little fantastical or purely for show. Of course, my wallet tends to stand in the way of tasting these delicious goodies, but a girl can hope, can't she?

featured rich colors and a sophisticated, elegant look.

Jean Paul Gaultier

I love how Gaultier seems to innately need to push the limitations and boundaries of fashion. I also love his use of color and the cage theme that ran throughout this collection.

Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy

gave us a look at understated chic. All these pieces were designed with the wearer in mind.

Elie Saab

and glamorous eveningwear seem to go hand in hand.

Christian Lacroix

never fails to produce something funky and different. I'm loving all the oversize coats.

John Galliano for Christian Dior

featured beautiful shapes and delicate details. The overall aesthetic is very pleasing.

Giorgio Armani Privé

Perhaps the pantsuit theme was an homage to the late Yves Saint Laurent. Whatever the case, it's very chic.
