South African/Canadian neo-soul singer Zaki Ibrahim is steadily making waves in the music scene. Ibrahim's smooth, silky voice is supported by meaningful lyrics and interesting, thoughtful instrumentals which draw influence from her multicultural background and music intensive upbringing. Her rich musical aesthetic sets her apart in a refreshing, i'm-so-glad-this-isn't-katy perry- radio bullshit- type of way. I don't know about y'all, but I wouldn't mind listening to some more soulful crooning every now and then...
